Interfering/Lakeside, March 7

CCSO release.  On 03/05/2018 at about 9:20 pm, while responding to a reported burglary in progress on Bowron Road in Lakeside, Coos County Sheriff Deputies observed a male on a bike coming from the area of the reported burglary. The man, dressed all in black with a hood over his head was wearing a backpack. Believing the person may have been involved in the burglary, the Deputies attempted to stop the subject for questioning. The man refused, and as he left the area on his bicycle, the deputy recognized the man as 33-year old Lorin Langley, Coos Bay, who had an outstanding arrest warrant. The Deputy again tried to stop Langley and he again rode his bike away from the deputies. While attempting to flee from the Deputies Langley lost control of his bicycle, the grip came off of the handlebar, and he hit the Deputy’s stopped patrol vehicle, causing significant damage to the driver’s door. Neither the Deputy nor Langley was injured in the incident. Langley was arrested for the outstanding warrant, a probation warrant for methamphetamine. In the pat down and inventory search of Mr. Langley a set of metal knuckles and a hand held electronic stun device were found and he was charged with being a felon in possession of restricted weapon (X2) as well as interfering with police. Langley was transported to the Coos County Jail. Langley is still being held with a $40,000 bail. The crash investigation is being handled by the Oregon State Police.
