Interstate 5 guardrail replacement underway, resurfacing project starting, Feb. 19

ODOT release – ALBANY – Expect lane closures along Interstate 5 between Albany and Cottage Grove as a guardrail replacement project continues and a project to repair and resurface the road gets underway. Travelers may have more than one work zone in each direction of I-5. Local residents may hear noise for a night or two from each project. I-5 Guardrail updates – Crews are replacing the ends of guardrails on northbound and southbound I-5 between Albany and Cottage Grove. Work has begun southbound. Expect lane closures in the work zone Sunday through Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., which will change nightly. The project is expected to be completed by April 6. I-5 Road repairs – Crews are repairing damaged concrete, removing outdated joints, and grinding the concrete surface to eliminate ruts northbound and southbound I-5 between North Albany and Halsey. Work is expected to begin southbound on Sunday, February 23. Expect lane closures in the work zone, Sunday through Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. This work is weather dependent and may be cancelled by wet weather or cold temperatures. The project is expected to be completed by June 30, 2021. Each project will be in different areas of I-5 multiple times. The scheduled location of the projects will be updated on TripCheck.com weekly.
