The unemployment rate for the five complete counties along the Oregon Coast for the month of May was the same as the previous month or slightly higher. However, according to figures released by the Oregon Employment Department, nearly all of the rates continue a trend began more than a year ago of being less than the month before. In Coos Co., the jobless rate in May was 9.1% of the workforce, that’s the same as April, but less than the 10.0% recorded in May of 2013. In Curry Co., The 10.8% unemployed rate was the same as the previous month, but also slightly up from the 10.6% in May of last year. In Lincoln Co., the rate in May was up one-tenth of a percent from April, 7.6% from 7.5%, but it was also less than the 8.4% of last year. In Tillamook Co., the 6.5% rate was also the same as the previous month, and down from the 7.4% in May of 2-13. Clatsop Co. continues to have the lowest unemployment rate on the Coast as 6.1% for May, down from the 6.2% in April, and less than the 7.0% from May of last year.
