The latest unemployment numbers from the State of Oregon show 14.9% of the State’s labor force unemployed during the Month of April. Locally, the rate is even higher in Coos County, 18.8% and Curry County 18.0%. All of the jobless numbers throughout the State’s regions are higher than recent previous years because of the COVID-19 health crisis. Coos and Curry counties would normally have unemployment rates around 5.1 to 5.3 percent in the month of April according to historical figures.
