Two business groups and one county in Colorado are lending their support to the proposed Jordan Cove Energy Project on Coos Bay’s North Spit. Mesa County, the Grand Junction Economic Partnership and the West Slope Colorado Oil and Gas Association have all sent letters to federal regulators supporting the liquefied natural gas export terminal. In their letter, they asked regulators to consider the economic benefits to “upstream” locations that send natural gas to the West Coast through the Ruby Pipeline. The association claims gas prices in the region are depressed because producers don’t have access to overseas markets. Jordan Cove is going through the federal permit process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as well as other agencies including the State of Oregon.
