It was expected to be released in June, but got delayed. On Wednesday, Sept. 30, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) project on the North Spit of Coos Bay. Elizabeth Spomer, president and CEO of Jordan Cove says the EIS welcome what she describes as a “regulatory milestone,” and added “it paves the way for Jordan Cove LNG to be the first LNG export facility to be built on the West Coast.” The EIS did identify some negative environmental impacts, but federal officials say the proposed mitigation measures reduce the negatives to less than significant levels. A final order from FERC is expected by the end of the year.
