Jordan Cove release – As you may have seen, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released its Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on the Jordan Cove terminal and pipeline on Friday, November 15. The FEIS is the result of FERC’s comprehensive review process that Jordan Cove began in September 2017, and includes complete, comprehensive environmental, safety and security reviews, developed with input from federal and state agencies, Tribes and many other stakeholders. The FEIS represents a significant step forward for this investment in Oregon. In addition to the federal regulatory process, Jordan Cove continues to experience positive momentum in many aspects of the Project, including the local permitting process, voluntary land easements and the Project’s engagement with Tribes and communities. While community support and the FERC FEIS represent significant forward momentum, state permits remain a critical component of the regulatory and environmental compliance process to move this important economic investment forward. Federal environmental approval of the Project sets an important standard and clear proof-point that the Jordan Cove Project is environmentally compliant, in the public interest, and can be legitimately permitted. The FEIS issued by FERC represents the final step in the federal environmental review process before an order is issued by the Commission approving the project, expected in February 2020. The Jordan Cove team is grateful to the thousands of supporters who have been actively engaged with the Project and the process. We respectfully acknowledge the FERC staff, the cooperating groups and other federal agencies for their thorough, scientific review of the project. Together with you, our supporters, we look forward to receiving the final certificate from FERC on February 13, 2020.
