On March 1, 2016 at about 6:00PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a crash on Highway 238 (Williams Highway) near milepost 2. Upon arrival one person was found deceased. Preliminary information indicates a 2006 Suzuki sport utility was traveling eastbound on Highway 238 when it crossed the centerline and struck a westbound Ford Expedition head-on. The driver of the Suzuki, Pamela J HOWARD, age 63, of Applegate was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Ford, Kandice D GARCIA, age 33, of Murphy, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass.
