Joyce Spicer: Laughing Cauldrons at Coos Art Museum, Dec. 11

From December 11, 2015 to February 13, 2016 Coos Art Museum will be featuring a solo exhibition of artist Joyce H. Spicer in the Mabel Hansen Gallery. Spicer was selected for a one-person exhibition at Coos Art Museum after her large and vibrant multi – media vase form sculpture “Copper Cauldron” won the People’s Choice prize in the 2014 CAM Biennial. Port Orford resident, Joyce H. Spicer uses a combination of natural materials and hand-made paper to create unique basket forms. She studied at Oregon State College in Ashland and under several local weavers. The exhibition opens with a free public reception from 5 to 7pm on Friday December 11. It would be a wonderful time to meet the artist. Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies the historic 1936 Art Deco U.S. Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay. The Museum offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes and lectures. Hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday through Friday and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Museum admission: $5 general, $2 students, veterans and seniors, free to Museum members.
