A Douglas Co. Grand Jury has ruled that police officers were justified in using deadly force when they were fired on by an intoxicated male July 17 in Reedsport. Seventy-one year old Glen Glancey was killed in the exchange of gunfire with four law enforcement officers. Twelve individuals, including a civilian eyewitness, testified before the Grand Jury in Roseburg. Glancey, who was convicted of murder back in 1973 in North Carolina, had a blood-alcohol level two to three times over the legal limit (.08%) to operate a vehicle. He reportedly fired ten rounds from a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol at police.
