Juveniles/Stolen Truck, June 5

CCSO release – On Wednesday May 30th 2018 Deputies received a report of a runaway 15 year old juvenile in Coos Bay. Deputies responded to the Lighthouse Charter School in Bunker Hill where they met the mother Talena Coplin. Ms. Coplin said her daughter had been last seen when she was dropped off at the charter school that morning by her brother. The juvenile reportedly left school shortly thereafter and was taken to her home by her boyfriend. While at the home the juvenile reportedly stole approximately $600.00 in cash, along with camping supplies and Ms. Coplin’s 2002 red Ford pickup truck. The runaway then left the area with another juvenile out of Coos Bay. 2018 Deputies received a report of a runaway 15 year old juvenile in Coos Bay. Deputies responded to the Lighthouse Charter School in Bunker Hill where they met the mother Talena Coplin. Deputies took the description of the juveniles, the information on the truck, and locations the juveniles may be heading. The truck was then entered into a national database as stolen. Shortly before the report was taken, the Oregon State Police had run the vehicle’s license plate near Salem Oregon. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office knows this as when a vehicle is entered as stolen, the database used through the Oregon State Police automatically reports the previous 24 hours of activity if law enforcement has had contact with the vehicle. However, despite a three day search by local and state agencies the missing juveniles had still not been found. On Saturday June 2nd, 2018 it was learned the stolen truck had crashed near Ogden, Utah. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office told the Coos County Sheriff’s Officer that the crash involved the stolen truck and the juvenile was transported to a local hospital. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office notified Ms. Coplin of the incident.
