On Saturday, July 31st, 2021 Roseburg Police K9 Axel was used to assist officers in locating suspects that had fled from a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Marlene Drive and Newton Creek Road. A juvenile male was driving the stolen vehicle and abandoned the vehicle in the middle of Marlene Drive after passing a marked patrol vehicle heading the opposite direction. The juvenile driver and juvenile passenger fled from the car on foot, and a perimeter was setup to start a K9 track. K9 Axel was deployed and tracked the juvenile males to the 1500 block of Newton Creek Road, where they were contacted. The juvenile male driver was detained and ultimately arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.
