Kidnapping, Nov. 30

News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On 11-23-16 at about 1720 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Oregon State Police Troopers, responded to the Green Acres area in Coos Bay to report of a possible hit and run accident.  As Sheriff’s Deputies were assisting the State Police in their investigation of the Hit and Run they had contact with the driver and passenger in the suspect vehicle. State Troopers arrested the driver of the suspect vehicle in the accident, 51 year old Coos Bay resident, Darren Carlin for DUII and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. While conducting their investigation, the passenger in Mr. Carlin’s vehicle, 41 year old Coos Bay resident, Roxanne Serr was contacted and it was learned from her that Mr. Carlin, over the course of months had been keeping her from leaving their relationship and that she had actually been physically assaulted and threatened with a weapon only days before.  As a result of this investigation Mr. Carlin was additionally charged by Sheriff’s Deputies with Kidnap II, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault IV Domestic and Domestic Menacing.  Darren Carlin was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and lodged on the above mentioned charges with an additional charge of Disorderly Conduct II from an incident investigated by the North Bend Police Department. Carlin is being held in custody in lieu of $315,000.00 bail.
