NBPL release – In January, North Bend Public Library launches a four-month program aimed at educating children on food preparation, nutrition and costs. In partnership with Food Hero, “Kids Can Cook!” will provide kits including recipes, activities and some of the ingredients needed to make simple meals. There will also be a monthly 30-minute zoom presentation on how to cook the food, as well as nutrition and meal planning notes. Each month will feature a different meal. In January, breakfast is featured, with snacks the focus in February. March will work on lunch and the program finishes in April with dinner. Registration is required each month to plan for the preparation of the kits. To register for January, call the library or go to https://tinyurl.com/ybq5apte and fill out the form by January 13. The kits will be ready for pick-up the third week of the month, and participants will be sent a link for the Zoom presentation. Food Hero is a program of the Oregon State University Extension Service. Food Hero’s mission is to help low-income Oregonians improve their health by increasing their consumption of fruits and vegetables.
