BAH release – Coos Bay, OR, Bay Area Hospital’s Kids’ HOPE Center holds an annual Pinwheels for Prevention event to create awareness surrounding Child Abuse Awareness Month in April. This year’s planting will be held at the Kids’ HOPE Center located at 1925 Thompson Road, Coos Bay on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. The media is invited to attend to highlight the work of the Kids’ HOPE Center, and bring continued awareness to the issue of child abuse in Coos County and across the nation. This will be a COVID-19 socially distanced event not open to the public. The pinwheels that will be planted at the Kids’ HOPE Center represent the 317 child victims served during the previous calendar year. This event, while sobering, is also a celebration of the amazing work of the Kids’ HOPE Center, and to thank our community partners that support the work of the Center. Pinwheels can be purchased in sets of 12 for $25, or in sets of 25 for $50. A sign with information regarding the pinwheels comes with the purchase of a pinwheel set. These pinwheels are yours to keep and reuse each year as you see fit. The Kids’ HOPE Center encourages those who purchase pinwheels to display them in your garden or at your business so that all can see your support! The Kids’ HOPE Center asks that those organizations and individuals who purchase pinwheels take a photo of the pinwheels in their yard or at their business and post them on Facebook, tagging the Kids’ HOPE Center. This is an event that Coos County strongly supports, and showing your support online is a great way to increase the impact of your pinwheel purchase. If you have questions or would like to purchase pinwheels, please contact the Kids’ HOPE Center at (541) 266- 8806.
