A 55-year old Lakeside male is deceased, and a 31-year old Lakeside male has been arrested as a suspect. According to a news release from Coos Co. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, The Coos Co. 911 Center received a call Friday, Sept. 16, 3:53 p.m., about a serious assault in the parking lot of the McKay’s Store in Lakeside. Randy Eugene Bendel was found lying in the parking lot with life threatening injuries. He was rushed to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay where he died about 5:33 p.m. The Coos Co. Major Crime Team was activated and a suspect developed. Based on interviews with witnesses, police were searching for Kentaurus Eagle Rondeau. About 9:30 p.m., Rondeau arrived at his residence and turned himself in to authorities. He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille and charged with Murder. DA Frasier is seeking witnesses to the crime as well as the “Good Samaritans” who assisted until First Responders could arrive on the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
