News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. “On February 13, 2014 at about 12:37 PM the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Coquille Fire Department and the Coquille Valley Ambulance responded to a report of a vehicle crash into a creek near the intersection of Lampa Lane and Fishtrap Road, west of Coquille. At about 12:21 pm passerby reported seeing a vehicle on its side over an embankment with a person trapped inside. Upon arrival fire department personnel and ambulance crew assisted the driver and only occupant from the vehicle. The driver, identified as 76 year old Clyde Blaylock of Coquille said he had swerved to miss a doe and yearling blacktail deer in the roadway. He stated the wheels left the roadway, sucking the 1999 Ford Explorer over the embankment. Mr. Blaylock was soaked from the water. He told law enforcement he thought he had been there for 30-40 minutes in the water. Mr. Blaylock was transported to Coquille Valley Hospital where he was treated. The vehicle was removed by Mast Brothers after about two hours on scene.”
