Landslides that occurred after recent wet weather has forced the closure of two Bureau of Land Management forest roads. Wells Creek Road (#22-09-07) is closed indefinitely at milepost 2.5 due to a massive slide. A detour is available via Ferntop Road (#21-09-32) and Wassen Lake Road (#21-09-10). Weaver (Camas) Tie Road (#28-09-25.1) is also closed approximately two miles from the junction with Weaver Road. BLM road crews are assessing roads for damage and they continue to receive reports of downed trees, plugged culverts and slides throughout the area. The BLM asks visitors and those working in the woods to travel safely and be aware of potential road failures. “They can happen at any time. Even when it’s not raining,” said Gloria Robbins, Coos Bay District Road Maintenance Manager. Updated information on forest road conditions, as well as detailed road maps, are available at the Coos Bay District Office (1300 Airport Lane, North Bend, 541-756-0100).
