Laskey-Clifton Corporation is an SBA small business, engaged in Heavy/Civil General Contracting. Our company is located on the Central Oregon Coast for the last 59 years. We are a growing company, and currently have a position open for an experienced Construction Project Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

General: The successful candidate will need to have experience in estimating & managing public works heavy-civil projects, with a focus on Road Construction, Underground Water, Sanitary and Storm systems, Water & Wastewater Treatment plants, and Earthmoving/Grading. Projects performed are varied in scope and size, from $50K to $10M, and are located in the Pacific Northwest; primarily in Oregon and Washington. Candidate will be responsible for project profit and loss. Priorities should be safety, project job cost management, project schedule, and quality work. Number of projects managed at one time will vary, based on project size and complexity, but should be 3-5 projects at one time.

CPM SCHEDULING

The successful candidate will need to possess skills in Microsoft Project CPM scheduling software. Candidate must be capable of cost and resource loading the project schedule, and delivering cash flow projections to management from that schedule. Candidate is expected to create the job schedule, and coordinate with management and project superintendent, to verify accuracy and constructability. Candidate will review resource schedule with project superintendent and management, to forecast equipment and personnel needs.

COMMUNICATIONS

Candidate will need to have good and positive communication skills, between project owner, design engineer, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow team mates from Laskey-Clifton Corporation.

TEAMWORK

Candidate must be a team player, and foster a loyalty for fellow employees and the company. This cannot be overstated.

PROJECT COST CONTROL

Candidate will be experienced in monitoring and maintaining project job cost reports, using earned value management. Candidate will generate weekly job cost reports on each job in his/her charge, and review them with field management in detail. Based on these weekly meetings, job costs will be kept in budget, for a successful outcome. Candidate will procure project materials and subcontract work, maintaining the project budget while doing so.

NEGOTIATION SKILLS

Candidate must be versed in negotiation, and capable of successful negotiations with project owner, design engineer, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow team mates from Laskey-Clifton Corporation, as required.

INTERACTION WITH MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING

Candidate will work with company management and accounting staff, delivering monthly project cost to complete, creating purchase orders and committing their costs to record, creating subcontracts and committing their costs to record, writing change orders for both purchase orders and subcontracts, and keeping accounting informed of said purchase orders, so that they can be committed as well.No surprises are desired.

TECHNICAL SUBMITTALS

Candidate will be responsible for originating and reviewing project submittals, in a timely manner. Candidate will maintain and monitor a submittal log, to ensure submittals are submitted and returned in a timely manner, so as not to delay progress of the job.

RISK MANAGEMENT

Candidate must be capable of recognizing risk on jobs in their control, and managing that risk, whether it be safety, contractual, operational, or otherwise. This is necessary for a successful outcome.

ESTIMATING

The candidate’s primary role is to manage projects, as outlined above. Candidate will be required to estimate contract change orders on jobs in their charge. Candidate will be required to bid jobs from time to time, as necessary. Also, candidate will review completed bids with other estimators, prior to bid submission.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS

Candidate will be fluent with MS Office, file transfers, online project collaboration systems, estimating software, job cost software, and cpm scheduling software.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years of Project Management Job experience, as described above.

Construction Management Degree or other formal training

Verifiable Former Employer References for Project Management

Valid Drivers license and good driving record

Mandatory Drug Testing upon hire and randomly throughout employment

Positive Team Building attitude
