Liberty Theatre, Jan. 23

Only at a theatre could the theatrics take center stage. And so it was Friday night at the historic Liberty Theatre in downtown North Bend. It held the moniker “Little Theatre on the Bay”, or “LTOB” for many years, but they only masked the true identity which came to light, literally, before a large crowd of smiling supporters enjoying free popcorn. The large vertical sign, restored and rewired, was lit with a ceremonial switch following the crowd’s countdown. Then, the lights and colors took over the dark skies and once again the Liberty Theatre sign, like the “Welcome to North Bend” sign on the north end of the city, became a bookend to the Bay Area’s first city and shined with new paint and bright colorful neon lights. The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors did the official “Ribbon Cutting” as the crowd applauded and many hands were shaken. Supporters wanted to thank Kyle Electric, North Bend, for the wiring of the sign and also to those who donated to make the event possible. It was a good theatre night.
