DUII on Central Oregon Coast
News release from the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office. “On November 17, 2013, shortly after 12:00pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a possible DUII driver traveling northbound on Highway 101 in South Beach. The complainant reported a white Chevrolet truck was driving at varying speeds and crossing over both the center line and the fog line. Deputies located the vehicle traveling northbound on highway 101 near SE 50th Street. A second complainant was following the vehicle with his hazard lights on as he was also calling 911. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Highway 101 near SE 32nd Street. Deputies found the driver, Rigoberto Martin Lopez, 20, of Waldport to be in a visibly intoxicated condition. They also observed open beer bottles, spilled beer and bottle caps scattered around inside the vehicle. Martin Lopez told deputies he did not have a driver license or any other form of identification. Deputies took Martin Lopez into custody for DUII, Reckless driving, and Failure to carry and present an operator’s license. Martin Lopez submitted to a breath test which measured his BAC at .23%. He was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with a total bail of $37,500.”

Theft charge on Central Oregon Coast
News release from the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office. “On November 15, 2013, at 9:30am, a Newport resident called the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to report her cell phone had been taken from the Waldport Campus of the Oregon Coast Community College. The woman explained she had forgotten her phone plugged into a wall charger when she left her night class on November 13th. She said the phone was no longer there when she returned. An investigation, which included reviewing campus video surveillance and tracking the use of the stolen phone, led to a night custodian, Nicholas Allen Engle, 35, of Seal Rock, as a suspect. Deputies contacted Engle at his residence and recovered the stolen phone. Engle was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was cited and released for Theft II.”
