“Listen, Learn & Lunch!” returns to Coos Bay Public Library during festival week of the Oregon Coast Music Festival with noontime presentations by Associate/Pops Conductor Adam Stern.  The public is invited to bring a lunch and listen to an acclaimed conductor and musician talk about some of this year’s festival highlights. Adam Stern has been leading the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra since 2003 and is Music Director of the Sammamish Symphony.  He is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Cornish College of the Arts, where he teaches composition, conducting and orchestral studies. He brings a fresh, entertaining and insightful approach to the discussion of the music and composers featured in the three classical programs to be performed July 25th, July 27th and July 29th. On Monday, July 24th,  “The Virtuoso Concert ” featuring Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, Ginastera’s Variaciones Concertantes,  Copland’s Suite from “The Tender Land”, and Ravel’s Bolero will be discussed. Wednesday will focus on  “A Tribute to American Song-and-Dance” and on Friday, July 28th the “Northern Lights” concert featuring Nielsen’s Helios Overtur,  Alfven’s Misommarvaka “Swedish Rhapsody”and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 will be introduced.
