Lockdown in North Bend, March 8

North Bend high school and middle school were put on “lockdown” Tuesday, March 7, following a report of a male “carrying an uncased rifle in the ready position on the east sidewalk of Pacific Street in front of the North Bend Public Pool, heading toward the high school,” according to a news release from NBPD Chief Robert Kappelman.  NBPD dispatch received the report at 10:59 a.m., “units were on scene within two minutes.”  Nineteen-year old George L. Watson, North Bend, was taken into custody “and will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office on a charge of Disorderly Conduct II, a Class B Misdemeanor.”  Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact NBPD dispatch at (541) 756-3161.
