Summary: 2 Coos County Men Located After Being Lost in the Woods. On December 5th, 2023, around 5:00 pm, Coos County Dispatch received a report of possible lost mushroom pickers. The two men were identified as Neal Wisegarver (47) and Jeffrey Burns (61), and a concerned friend made the call after the men had not made contact after dark. Deputy Freerksen responded to the area and conducted an initial search. The Coos County Search and Rescue (SAR) Coordinator, Deputy J. Gray, was contacted due to poor weather conditions and low visibility in the area. Around 11:45 pm, Deputies established verbal contact with both men. Both men were cold and wet but otherwise unharmed. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office must again emphasize planning and preparing for recreational activities, especially when conducting them after the sun goes down. Good work Deputies!
