Both of Marshfield’s teams won their first round games Thursday at the Les Schawb Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament in Coos Bay. The Pirates boys dispatched North Valley 51-26, while the Lady Pirates topped North Valley 61-25.  That advanced the two host teams into the championship semi-final round today against Philomath, who also advanced their teams to the semi-finals.  The Warrior girls beat Madras 71-46, while Philomath’s boys downed Sutherlin 48-45.  Other winners on the girl’s side included Astoria 44-38 over Junction City and Sutherlin 52-41 over Sisters.  On the boy’s side, Sisters beat Junction City 43-37 and La Salle Prep 58-42 over Crook Co.  Today’s games are all at MHS.  Consolation boy’s bracket has Crook Co. & Junction City at 8:30 a.m., followed by Sisters & Junction City’s girls at 10:45 a.m., Sutherlin & No. Valley’s boys at noon, followed by Madras & No. Valley’s girls at 1:45 p.m.  The championship semi-finals begin at 3:30 p.m. with La Salle Prep & Sisters boys, followed by Sutherlin & Astoria’s girls at 5:15 p.m., Marshfield’s boys against Philomath at 7 p.m., and then Marshfield’s girls & Philomath at 8:45 p.m.  Championship games are on Saturday at MHS.
