Luring A Minor Arrest, Nov. 10

Beginning in late October, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a report that Gerald Sanders, age 41 of Idleyld Park, was attempting to lure an underage female to Oregon from Arkansas via the Internet. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Detectives obtained information from a Detective in Arkansas, who initially became aware of Sanders’ activity and began looking into the matter. Sanders began communicating and agreed to meet with what he believed was a 14 year old female from Oregon for purposes of engaging in sexual activity. Sanders was taken into custody without incident when he arrived at the prearranged location in Roseburg to meet with the underage girl. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the investigation by the Roseburg Police Department and the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. Gerald Sanders was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on charges of Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree, both of which are felonies.
