CBPL release – Prepare to be amazed when world-famous magician Jeff Evans visits Coos County Friday, June 28. Jeff Evans’ career as a professional magician started from a book on coin tricks he read when he was twelve years old. Today he performs hundreds of shows each year, proof that anything you want to learn can be found in books. Two consecutive years ParentMap Magazine awarded him a “Golden Teddy” for Best Live Entertainment and his peers in magic named him “Seattle’s Funniest Magician.” Evans will offer the following free, all-ages performances: 10:00am, Mingus Park Stage, Coos Bay (in the event of rain, the event will be held at the Coos Bay Fire Department located at 450 Elrod in Coos Bay); 12:00pm, Bandon Public Library, 1204 11th Street SW, Bandon; 3:00pm, Powers Bicentennial Park, 511 Third Avenue, Powers; 6:00pm, Dora Public Library, 56125 Gold Brick Road, Myrtle Point. Jeff Evans’ performances are being supported by the Coos County Library Service District and are being offered to support out-of-school learning for young people during the summer as part of a nationwide Summer Reading Program. The annual initiative is offered to encourage young people and families to read during the summer months. Libraries throughout Coos County coordinate a challenge and programming tailored to local community needs.
