Marijuana Bust in Brookings, Jan. 25

News release from SCINT. On 1-21-2016 at approximately 7:00 pm the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team assisted by the Brookings Police Department and Curry County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at 706 6th Street, Brookings, OR. This residence is the home of 39-year old Ryan Teal. The search warrant was the result of lengthy investigation involving the illegal shipment of marijuana and the receiving of drug money from another state. Marijuana in states, such as Texas (where marijuana is illegal), commands a very high price which can be more than double the value of Marijuana in Oregon. During the investigation, Officers seized approximately $11,000.00 in US currency, 27 adult marijuana plants, and an estimated 7 pounds of processed marijuana ready for shipment. This investigation is an example of Law Enforcement agencies on the South Coast of Oregon and their dedication to investigate crimes involving persons who attempt to exploit the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program and Recreational Marijuana laws. Ryan Teal was arrested and transported to the Curry County Jail on the listed charges: Unlawful possession of over 8 ounces of marijuana (A Misdemeanor); Unlawful manufacture marijuana more than 8 plants (C Felony); Unlawful manufacture marijuana (27 plants over) within 1000 feet of a school (A Felony); Unlawful delivery of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school (A Felony). The investigation is on going at this time.
