The Oregon State Marine Board is offering a Guide/Charter Inspection Day for fishing guides and charter boat operators on Sunday, January 18, beginning at 9 am. The event will take place at the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Boathouse, Sportcraft Landing, at 1704 Clackamette Drive, in Oregon City. Boat inspections are scheduled from 9 am to 2 pm in the parking lot. At 10 am, marine deputies and Marine Board staff will hold an informational meeting in the boathouse classroom where participants can ask questions about new guide/charter rules and other required credentials. Beginning at 1 pm, there will be a First Aid and CPR refresher training. The class is offered at no cost to the participants. This is a great opportunity for guides and charter boat operators to get their boats inspected and receive inspection stickers that indicate to law enforcement that the boat has passed an equipment inspection. This event is being co-sponsored by the Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington and Yamhill County Marine Patrol offices, who encourage all guides and charter boat operators to be proactive about continuing education and boat inspections before the fishing seasons begin. For more information about the event, contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit at 503-365-8650.
