The Oregon State Marine Board will hold the first meeting of the Marine Sewage Disposal Rule Advisory Committee on March 1, at the OSU Extension Service Education Center, 1815 NE 169th Pl., Bldg. 1, Suite 1000, in Beaverton. The meeting begins at 8 am. The rule advisory committee is comprised of members from Oregon Sea Grant, private certified Clean Marina Owner/Harbor Master, Department of Environmental Quality, and the Columbia River Yachting Association, in addition to staff from the Marine Board’s Environmental Section. The initial meeting will explore agency authorities and review existing state and federal laws. The goal of this committee is to sync federal and state rules for on-board sewage holding tanks with an emphasis on Type I Marine Sanitation Devices (toilet system) for recreational boats under 65 feet in federally navigable waters.
