Marshfield’s basketball teams swept visiting Tillamook Friday night at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay. The Lady Pirates outscored the Cheesemakers 13-6 in the fourth to seal a 45-34 win. Senior Katelyn Rossback led Marshfield (5-2) with 26-points. The Pirate boys only relinquished the lead once in the second period when Tillamook went up by one, but Marshfield (5-2), behind senior Hunter Olson’s 28-points, won the non-league game 61-56. Both Pirate teams will be on the road to Scappoose on Monday night, girls at 4:30 p.m., boys at 6 p.m., broadcast live on FM 91.3 KMHS, or on the Internet through the radio station’s website.
Dune Country Classic
Marshfield’s JV boys’ basketball team went 1-1 at the Dune Country Classic Friday and Saturday in Reedsport. The Pirates lost to Sheridan 63-38 on Friday, but bounced back on Saturday and handed host Reedsport a 57-37 loss. The Lady Pirate JV team lost to Sheridan Friday, 24-21, and fell to Reedsport on Saturday 34-17.

North Bend’s boys improved to 4-0 with a 50-33 win over visiting Toledo Thursday night in a non-league basketball team. The Bulldogs next play in the Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament Monday, Dec. 29. The girls’ game scheduled for Saturday afternoon with Tillamook was canceled.

North Bend’s girls won the Newport Invitational Swim Meet Saturday on the Central Oregon Coast. Cassie Dallas won both the 100 & 200 Freestyle races, and Alyssa Bennett took the 50 Freestyle & the 100 Backstroke. Vianka Hoyer won the 500 Freestyle and Zaraya Estrada won the 100 Butterfly. The Bulldog boys placed third. Karl Stuntzner-Gibson won both the 100 & 200 Freestyle races.
