South Coast Holiday Tourney
Day two of the 11th Annual Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament Friday saw Marshfield’s boys grab their second win of the 2013-14 prep season, and the Lady Pirates advance to the championship game with a 35-33 win over Junction City.  Marshfield’s girls will play North Eugene, a 52-48 winner over Crescent Valley for the title, while the Pirate boys play North Eugene for fourth place.  The Highlanders beat Lebanon 54-51.  North Bend’s boys lost to McNary in the championship semi-finals 56-54.  The Celtics will play Coquille, which beat Junction City 44-43, for the tourney title.  Also on the girl’s side, Roosevelt beat Coquille 49-46, and Myrtle Point downed North Salem, 48-45.

South Coast Holiday Tourney
Day three of the 11th Annual Les Schwab Tire South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament in Coos Bay was all trophy games.  Marshfield’s girls fell in the championship game to North Eugene, while Crescent Valley bettered Junction City 45-38 for third place, Myrtle Point needed overtime to hand Roosevelt a 49-46 loss for fourth place, and Coquille downed North Salem74-61 for sixth place.  On the boy’s side, McNary, of Keizer, beat Coquille 57-50 in the championship game.  North Bend downed Junction City 62-40 for third place, Marshfield over North Eugene 52-42 for fourth, and Lebanon won sixth place with a 60-41 win over Molalla.

Marshfield plays Cottage Grove in a non-league basketball game Monday, Dec. 30, in Coos Bay.  The boys’ frosh/soph game is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Harding Gym, followed by the girls’ JV game at 4:30 p.m. in the main gym, varsity girls will play at 5:30 p.m., in the main gym, JV boys play at 5:30 p.m., in the Harding, followed by the varsity boys at about 7 p.m. in the main gym.
