Marshfield’s basketball teams both won their games at Siuslaw in Florence Monday night. The third place Lady Pirates won 55-41 to improve to 5-4 in the 4A Far West League, 14-7 overall, while the Lady Viks fall to 3-6, 5-14. Marshfield won the boy’s game 56-44. The Pirates are in first place with an 8-1 record and 12-9 overall with three games to go. Siuslaw falls to 1-8, 5-14. Sophomore Kody Dean lead the Pirates with 14-points, while Hunter Olson scored 11.

In a final tune-up before the district swimming championships at North Bend’s Municipal Pool this weekend, Marshfield’s teams beat Bay Area Rival North Bend at the Mingus Park Pool in Coos Bay Monday afternoon. The Pirate boys won 106-65, while the girl’s team prevailed 111-48. The Lady Pirates continue their dual meet win streak that now stretches back four years.
