MHS Student-Athletes of the Month
Bill Fields and Katie Guetterman have been chosen as the Marshfield Booster Club’s athletes of the month for December. Dance Coach Debbie Brown, “I nominate Katie Guetterman. Katie is a 4 year senior on dance team. She joined the team with no prior dance experience and has grown into a strong dancer and choreographer. This month Katie made it to the final round of auditions for the All-State team. We will not know until March who made the team, but Katie was one of fewer than 20 4A dancers to progress to the final level of the audition. As a team captain Katie leads the team by the example she sets. In 4 years she has not missed one practice or meeting. In 4 years I have never seen a negative attitude expressed toward me, or any of her team mates. She ALWAYS works hard and NEVER complains to anyone. This is rare in an individual, and particularly rare in a high school students. She is a A/B students, and highly respected by her teachers as a role model in the class room. On top of all of this Katie has taken on the task of helping me to choreograph our competition routine. While other coaches are hiring choreographers, or as studio directors are in the business of choreographing, Katie and I are the two putting together our dance. For Katie this means she works under my direction on most weekends and puts, on average, an extra 45 mins in, on top of our 3 ½ hours of practice, every night. She is helping to create a beautiful routine and if we place well in competition it will be due in large part to her efforts and the work ethic she instills in her team.” MHS swim coach Kathe McNutt, “I would love to nominate senior Bill Fields, he’s a Mr MHS contestant, a team captain and also competes in 3 sports for MHS. Football, swimming and track. Bill has been a top 2 finisher in each of our last 2 dual meets and is on track to have a great district meet!”
