Hidden Valley swept a pair of non-league baseball games south of Grants Pass Tuesday from visiting Marshfield. The Mustangs won the opener 10-0, and then took the second game 17-2. The Pirates next host Newport on Wednesday, 4:30 p.m.

Marshfield’s softball team opened the 2015 campaign with a 7-3 win over visiting Hidden Valley at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay Monday night. Senior Katelyn Rossback led the Lady Pirates with a three-run homer in the bottom of the second scoring Mackenzie Johnson and Sidney Baarstad to stake Marshfield to a 5-0 led after two innings. The sophomore Johnson picked up the win. The left-hander struck out seven Mustangs, but did give up a two-run homer to catcher Elem Bragg in the top of the sixth. The game was called after the sixth due to darkness. Marshfield plays at Newport Wednesday afternoon, 4:30 p.m.
