The Marshfield Upbeats are scheduled to perform at 5:05 p.m., Friday, March 20, at the OSAA 2015 Dance and Drill State Championships at Portland’s Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. Finals will be held Saturday night.

Marshfield’s track teams swept the Pirates Icebreaker track meet with wins Thursday on Prefontaine Track in Coos Bay. The Marshfield boys won with 107.5 points, with North Valley second with 97, followed by Hidden Valley 70, So. Umpqua 40, Sutherlin 25.5, Reedsport 21, Camas Valley 18, Glide 17 and Powers 8. The Lady Pirates won with 118 points, followed by Hidden Valley with 87, North Valley 54, Sutherlin 43, Camas Valley 30, So. Umpqua 29, Reedsport 23 and Glide 7. Senior Savannah Thurman won the Discus (108-05) for Marshfield, and McKenzie Allison took the Javelin (124-01). Junior Hunter Drops led the boys with wins in the Javelin (170-08) and the Pole Vault (14-6). Sawyer Heckard won the 3,000 (9:53.63), and both of the Pirate short relay teams came away winners. Marshfield next competes at the Medford Rotary Relays on April 4.

Marshfield’s baseball team dropped its home opener for the 2015 season, 8-3 to the Newport Cubs on Wednesday in Coos Bay. The Pirates (0-3) gave up five runs in the top of the fifth. Marshfield travels to the Klamath Basin to play at Henley, 2 p.m., and then Mazama, 4:30 p.m., on Friday. The Pirate JV team hosts Phoenix in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday.

North Bend’s baseball team opens the 2015 season Friday at home with a non-league game against Sutherlin at Clyde Allen Field beginning at 4 p.m. The Bulldog JV team will travel to Sutherlin for a 4 p.m. game. The JVs will host North Douglas on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Marshfield’s softball team hosts Phoenix Saturday for a non-league doubleheader at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay. The first game is set to begin at noon.

North Bend’s softball team will host Reedsport in a non-league game at 4:30 p.m. today, while the Bulldog JVs travel to Reedsport for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
