Upbeats
Marshfield’s dance team “The Upbeats,” finished fifth at the OSAA State Dance Championships at Portland’s Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum Saturday. Valley Catholic (88.53) won the 4A/3A/2/A/1A Large division, followed by Stayton (88.08), Crook Co. (81.75), Gladstone (79.86), Marshfield (78.89), Philomath (75.25), Scappoose (74.06), Molalla and Amity. Bandon was sixth in the 4A/3A/2A/1A Small Division.

North Bend opened the 2015 prep baseball season with a 12-0 win over visiting Sutherlin Friday at Clyde Allen Field in North Bend. On Saturday, the Bulldogs’ JV team handed visiting North Douglas a 19-11 loss. North Bend’s varsity (1-0) is scheduled to play Ridgeview Tuesday, noon, at the North Marion Tournament in Aurora.

Marshfield’s baseball team got a split in the Klamath Basin Friday in a pair of non-league games. The Pirates dropped a 9-0 decision at Henley, but bounced back and got their first win of the season with a 10-5 win at Mazama. Marshfield (1-4) hosts Elmira Monday, March 28, at noon in Coos Bay.

North Bend downed visiting Reedsport 10-3 in a non-league softball game Friday.

Marshfield split a non-conference softball doubleheader with visiting Phoenix Saturday at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay. Phoenix won the first game 12-5, but the home Pirates took the second 18-15.

Prep sb
Marshfield’s softball team is making its annual sojourn to Bend to play in the Central Oregon Tournament. The Lady Pirates (2-2) are scheduled to open at 4:15 p.m., Monday. North Bend (2-0) has a doubleheader at Sutherlin beginning at noon.
