Booster Clubs
The Marshfield Booster Club meets today, noon, at Abby’s Pizza in Coos Bay. The North Bend Booster Club is taking the week off because of a scheduling conflict at the high school. NBHS Boosters will resume meeting on May 20.

Marshfield’s Sara Allison was 4-for-4 at the plate, including a leadoff solo home run in the top of the seventh, to help spark the Lady Pirates to an 11-3, 4A Far West League softball win at Tri City Tuesday night over defending FWL champion South Umpqua (7-6, 13-8). Marshfield (13-0, 19-5) is in first place in the FWL by a game-and-a-half over Douglas (11-1, 17-3). The Trojans game with Siuslaw at Florence Tuesday was postponed due to rain on the Central Coast. They re-scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. If Douglas wins, the Lady Pirates and Trojans will meet for the FWL 2015 championship Friday night with a regular season-ending double-header (3&5 pm, FM 91.3 KMHS) at Winston. Marshfield had 13 hits in the game and scored three in the first with two out, one in the third, and four in the fourth, again with two out. Right-fielder Katie Maine was 3-for-4 at the plate, had 2 RBIs, scored once, and had two great outs with extra effort, on her knees, rolls and tosses to first baseman Carly Clarkson. Clarkson had an RBI that scored Khalani Hoyer and Allison to start the game, and the junior also scored three runs.

North Bend’s softball team fell 11-1 at Brookings-Harbor on Tuesday. The Bulldogs (3-10, 9-12) end the regular season Friday at home to Siuslaw (0-12, 2-20).

FWL bb
North Bend clinched at least a tie for the 4A Far West League baseball championship with a 12-2 win Tuesday at Clyde Allen Field in North Bend over visiting Brookings-Harbor. The defending league champ Bulldogs (12-1, 17-4) have a two-game lead on second place South Umpqua (10-3, 13-9), whom they beat two-out-of-three this year. North Bend ends the regular season with a doubleheader at Siuslaw (4-8, 6-16) in Florence Friday. Third place Marshfield (6-7, 9-14) dropped their game at home in Coos Bay to visiting South Umpqua, 10-5. The Pirates host Douglas (3-9, 5-17) in their regular season finale also Friday.
