Marshfield plays at Gladstone today in an OSAA 4A Softball Playoff Game at 5 p.m. The Athletic Director at Gladstone says there is a threat of a thunderstorm in the area during game time. In anticipation of a problem, he has secured Wilsonville’s all weather turf as an alternate site. The decision as to where the game will be played will be made by 1 p.m. No matter which site, the game will be broadcast live on AM 1420 KMHS. Two other Far West League teams are also in the “Round of 16.” League champion South Umpqua hosts Banks, and second place Douglas travels to Henley near Klamath Falls.

North Bend hosts Newport today in an OSAA 4A Baseball Playoff Game at 5 p.m. at Clyde Allen Field in North Bend. No other Far West League teams remain in the playoffs.

Marshfield had five softball players selected for All-League honors following post season voting by the 4A Far West League coaches. Senior Abby Osborne was named First Team Catcher; Freshman Mackenzie Johnson First Team Pitcher; Junior Jade Chavez First Team Outfield; and, Junior Katelyn Rossback First Team Infield. Sophomore Khalani Hoyer was voted to the Second Team Infield. North Bend’s Kadie Forderer was named Second Team Outfield, and Arianna Campbell was named Honorable Mention Utility Player. South Umpqua pitcher Kirstan Cook was named the League’s MVP and South Umpqua Coach Joelle McGrorty and Douglas’ Brad Deaver were honored as Coaches of the Year.

Far West League baseball champion North Bend landed eight players on the post season All League teams as voted on by the league’s coaches. Jon Bennison was First Team Pitcher, Zach Inskeep First Team Catcher, Tylan Corder First Team Outfield, Hunter Jackson First Team Utility, Garrett McCoy Second Team Pitcher, Marshall Rice Second Team Infield, Jared Hampel Honorable Mention Infield and Tyler Laskey Honorable Mention Outfield. The Bulldogs’ Tylan Corder was named the league’s MVP, and NB Coach Brad Horning honored as Coach of the Year. Marshfield got Andrew Sharp named to the First Team Infield, Drew James First Team Outfield, Tyler Campbell Second Team Infield, and Anthony Ross Second Team Outfield.
