Marshfield beat visiting Douglas in three straight sets Thursday night in a 4A Far West League volleyball match at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay. The league leading Lady Pirates won 25-16, 25-17, 25-9 to improve to 4-0 in the FWL and 12-2 overall, while the Trojans (2-2, 5-6) fall into a tie for third place with South Umpqua. Senior Abby Clough and sophomore Shaylynn Jensen led Marshfield with nine kills each. In other FWL matches, second-place Siuslaw (4-1, 5-9) won at North Bend 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20), and South Umpqua (2-2, 6-5) beat visiting Brookings-Harbor 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-9, 25-12).

Unbeaten North Bend (5-0, 9-0) beat visiting Brookings-Harbor (4-1, 6-3) 5-0 in a Far West League boys’ soccer match Thursday night at Vic Adams Field in North Bend. In other matches, South Umpqua (1-3-1, 1-6-1) downed Coquille/Myrtle Pt. 3-1 (0-4-1, 0-6-1), no score on Douglas at Marshfield. In girl’s FWL soccer, North Bend (4-0-1, 6-1-1) and Brookings-Harbor (4-0-1, 6-1-2) tied at 1-1, Same for Coquille/Myrtle Pt. (1-2-1, 1-6-1) and South Umpqua (1-2-2, 1-5-2), 1-1.

North Bend puts its unbeaten record on the line tonight when the Bulldogs travel to once-beaten Siuslaw for a 4A Far West League prep football game. Marshfield will host Douglas at Pete Susick Stadium in Coos Bay, and South Umpqua plays at Brookings-Harbor. All games kickoff at 7 p.m.
