Booster Clubs
The Marshfield and North Bend booster clubs meet today, noon. The Bulldog supporters will meet in the high school’s Hall of Champions, while the Pirates backers gather at Abby’s Pizza in Coos Bay. Both meetings feature coaches and student –athletes who will talk about their current sport seasons, and are open to all interested in local high school sports.

First place Marshfield dispatched second place Siuslaw in three straight sets Tuesday night in 4A Far West League volleyball in Coos Bay. The unbeaten Lady Pirates won 25-14, 25-23, 25-12. Juniors Shaylynn Jensen and Kelsey Jackson recorded nine and seven kills each to pace Marshfield. Senior Carly Clarkson served up four aces and led the team with 14 digs. Marshfield also won the JV match, 25-14, 25-23. In other FWL matches, North Bend lost at home to visiting South Umpqua 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-11, 15-12), and Douglas swept visiting Brookings-Harbor 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-10). On Thursday, North Bend (3-4, 7-9) plays at Marshfield (7-0, 16-0), Brookings-Harbor (0-7, 1-14) is at Siuslaw (4-3, 7-6), and Douglas (3-4, 5-6) travels to So. Umpqua (4-3, 5-6).

In the battle for second place in the 4A-3 Far West League boys’ soccer race took place at Brookings-Harbor Tuesday night. The host Bruins downed the visiting Marshfield Pirates 1-0. Unbeaten first place North Bend won at home over Douglas 11-0, and Coquille downed visiting South Umpqua 1-0. On the girl’s side, BH downed the visiting Lady Pirates 7-0. Unbeaten North Bend beat visiting Douglas 11-0, and So. Umpqua won at Coquille 1-0.
