Marshfield swept South Umpqua in three straight sets Thursday night in Tri City. The Lady Pirates prevailed 25-13, 25-11, 25-16. Junior Hailee Woolsey led Marshfield with 15 kills, while senior Abby Clough had seven. In other 4A Far West League matches, North Bend swept at Brooking-Harbor 25-8, 25-23, 25-22. Siuslaw beat visiting Douglas 3-2 in Florence. Marshfield goes to the Santiam Christian Tournament Saturday in Adair Village, north of Corvallis. North Bend will travel to a tournament in Medford at St. Mary’s Saturday.

Marshfield’s JV teams took two wins at South Umpqua Thursday night in Tri City. The Lady Pirate JV II team won 25-15, 25-19, 15-7. The JV I team prevailed 25-15, 25-8.

6-8th Pirate XC Meet Report – Driftwood Invitational – Cape Blanco State Park
The 6-8th grade Pirates XC squads traveled south to a wet and blustery Cape Blanco State Park on Tuesday to compete against most of the Far West League. The course is the most westerly XC course in the continental US and features a fast black top start, windy headlands and dirt trails. On the girls side Kaylee Delzotti (Millicoma-7th) won the event in 12:26 for a 23 second PR over her time last year. Teammates Rayne Quinones (MHS-8th) set a PR of 2:25 and Jordan Baarstad (Millicoma -7th) took 58 seconds off her time last year. All but one of the lady harriers set a new season record time. The girls squad finished 3rd in the team race. For the boys Jeremy Roe (MHS-8th), Gabe Delgado (MHS-8th), and Aiden Leahy-Crooks (MHS-8th) again went one, two, three in overall finish as they did the week before at Bullard’s. Roe’s winning time of 11:11 was a 29 second PR. Delgado in 11:30 was 41 seconds faster than last year and Leahy-Crooks 11:40 was a 38 second improvement. They were followed by 6th grade standout Zach Holt (Millicoma-6th) who took 5th overall in a time of 11:44. Cameron Nye (MHS-8th) rounded out the Pirate top five in 11th place in a season best 12:15. Placing 1, 2, 3, 5, 11 the team scored 22 for first place over North Bend who scored 45. Kyran Erwin (Millicoma-7th) was Marshfield’s 6th man with a time of 12:35 and a stunning 3:37 PR! The two Patricks also lowered their course times. Harbolt (Sunset-7th) took 2:35 off his previous mark and Monsebroten (MHS-8th) improved by 1:09. Zach Randle (Millicoma-7th) recorded a 2 second PR. The Pirates will race next at the Siuslaw hosted Woahink Invitational this Saturday

Douglas plays at North Bend tonight in a 4A Far West League football game. Marshfield travels to Brookings-Harbor, and Siuslaw is at South Umpqua. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Prep xc
Marshfield’s cross country teams runs at Portland Meadows Saturday, while North Bend goes to the Woahink Run south of Florence Saturday.
