Marshfield’s basketball teams swept a pair of non-conference basketball games at Scappoose Monday night. The Lady Pirates won 32-31 behind Katelyn Rossback’s 18-points, and the Pirates boys beat previously unbeaten Scappoose 53-47. Kody Dean had 6 three-pointers in the game and led Marshfield with 20-points. The Pirate boys jumped in the OSAA Power Rankings from 11 to 3 with the win over the Indians. Scappoose fell to No. 6. Both Pirate teams are now 6-2 and will next play in their own Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament Dec. 29, 30 & 31.
Bay City Duals
Marshfield won its own Bay City Duals wrestling tournament Monday in Coos Bay. The Pirates bettered Springfield in the finals. Three Marshfield wrestlers were honored as “outstanding” for the tourney. Travis Wittlake Jr. was named in the upper weights, and AJ Lira and Tyler Campbell for the lower weights.
