In December of 2014, SCINT Detectives obtained a search warrant for the Lakeside, OR residence of the then 35 year old Vernon Lee Johnson and 34 year old Sarah Susan Tucker based on information Johnson and Tucker were delivering methamphetamine from their residence. On December 16, 2014, SCINT Detectives assisted by North Bend Police Department, Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Coquille Tribal Police and the Coquille Tribal Police Drug Detection Canine Stormy, and the Oregon State Police executed a search warrant at Vernon Johnson and Sarah Tucker’s residence. Detectives seized scales, packaging materials, drug transaction records, US currency, a surveillance system, and more than 200 grams (approximately ½ pound) of crystal methamphetamine. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Johnson’s and Tucker’s two children, both of whom were under two years of age, resided with them and had been present during their drug dealing activities. On May 26, 2016 Sarah Tucker was found guilty by a Coos County jury for the crimes of Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine and two counts of 1st Degree Child Neglect. Sarah Tucker was sentenced to 39 months in prison. On June 14, 2016 Vernon Johnson was found guilty by a Coos County jury for the crimes of Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and two counts of Child Endangering.
