Marshfield rallied from five down in the bottom of the seventh to tie a non-league prep baseball game with visiting Cascade 5-5 in Coos Bay Thursday afternoon. The Pirates then went on to score the winning run in the bottom on the ninth on a bases loaded single, 6-5 Marshfield. The Pirates rallied when they need in the bottom of the seventh scoring five runs on four hits. Mason Jussila had an RBI double to pace the rally. Also getting must have RBIs were Ben Martin and Nick Minton. Tied at five, neither team scored in the eighth, but in the ninth the Pirates put together the winning combination on Braden Denton’s bases loaded winning hit. Cascade took the second game 21-7. Marshfield (2-4) is scheduled to host Phoenix Saturday, noon & 2 p.m.

Visiting Yamhill-Carlton rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh to down Marshfield 9-7 at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay Thursday in a non-league prep softball game. The Pirates (3-3) were up 4-0 through two innings. Haley Parker stroked a two-run homer to lead Marshfield. But, the Tigers got three-runs in the top of the third, two on a home run shot of their own from Ember Armstrong. Marshfield went up by two in the fifth, only to have Yamhill-Carlton tie it in the sixth at 6-6. The Pirates went up 7-6 entering the top of the seventh, but the Tigers got four-hits and four-runs to pull off the road win. Marshfield is scheduled to play at Phoenix Saturday.
