It was a preseason battle between the two top teams in the 4A classification Friday as Marshfield’s boys traveled to Cascade to play the Cougars in a non-conference basketball game at Turner. It was a thriller. Cascade led most of the game, but the Pirates rallied, and the contest went into overtime. Not once, but twice before Marshfield prevailed 73-68. Pierce Davidson had a monster game with 26-points and 12-rebounds. The Pirates (4-1) are scheduled to next play in their own tourney, the South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament, Dec. 16, Thursday, 8:30 p.m., against Hidden Valley.
