Both of Marshfield’s basketball teams qualified for the 4A District 4 league playoffs with wins at home on the final night of the regular season for the Pirates. The girls (4-6, 9-15) clinched fourth place with a 32-26 win over Elmira. The Lady Pirates will next play at Junction City on Friday with the winner advancing to play at Marist Catholic in Eugene Saturday to determine the District’s No. 2 team for the upcoming state playoffs. Marshfield’s boys tied Junction City for second place behind league champion Marist Catholic (10-0, 20-3) with a 65-44 win over Elmira. The Pirates (6-4, 15-8) will wait for Siuslaw (5-5, 11-13) and Junction City (6-4, 15-10) to play Friday night at JC. The winner of that game travels to Coos Bay to take on Marshfield Saturday night for the District’s No. 2 seed.
