Marshfield’s basketball teams swept visiting Marist Catholic of Eugene Tuesday night in 4A District 4 league play at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay.  The doubleheader represented the end of the District’s first half between the two top teams.  The Pirates prevailed in both.  Marshfield’s boys (5-0, 15-4) took the varsity opener 55-49 over the Spartans (4-1, 11-7) to break the first place tie.  The Lady Pirates (5-0, 18-1) grabbed the nightcap 56-39 over Marist Catholic (3-2, 11-7).  Marshfield’s teams are on the road to Junction City Friday.  The JC boys (3-2, 9-10) are currently alone in third, while the Tiger girls are now tied with Marist Catholic & Cottage Grove (3-2, 11-8) for second.
