Visiting Junction City swooped into the Bay Area Thursday and swept the Marshfield Pirates in basketball on the final District 4 games to end the regular season. It started with the JV win by the Tigers 36-34. The varsity girls game was won by JC 47-35 dropping the Lady Pirates into third place (5-4, 6-6). District 4 will hold a league playoff Friday at Junction City. Friday, Marshfield plays league champ Cottage Grove (9-1, 10-3) at 4:30 p.m., broadcast live on FM 105.1, KMHS. The Pirates boys lost their varsity match to Junction City 48-39. That gives the Tigers (8-3, 12-2) the league championship. Marshfield (7-3, 10-4) is second. Both teams advance to the 4A Classification’s quarter-final round Tuesday with teams to be determined.
