For the second straight year, Marshfield’s football team has advanced to the OSAA Championship Semi-Final Round following a 28-23 quarter-final win over visiting Mazama, of Klamath Falls, Friday night at Pete Susick Stadium in Coos Bay.  The win advances the Pirates (9-1) to the Final Four Saturday in Cottage Grove where they will meet the Banks Braves (9-1) in a 5:30 p.m. game.  It will be the final game of a triple header that day at Cottage Grove. Banks advanced with a 28-14 win at home over Marist Catholic.  The other side of the bracket has Seaside (9-1) & Gladstone (8-2).  They will play at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.  Also at Cottage Grove Saturday, In a 2A semi-final, Santiam (9-1) will play Monroe (10-1) at 11 a.m., followed by a 3A semi-final between Cascade Christian (10-2) & Amity (10-1) at 2:15 p.m.
